Government Polytechnic College, Purasawalkam, Chennai was established by Government of Tamil Nadu in the year 1999, to cater to the needs and aspirations of the people who cannot afford the costly technical education offered by the private institutions.

 

This college started functioning first in the Central Polytechnic College campus at Tharamani, Chennai and then after the completion of building works and establishment of laboratories was shifted to the present location in the year 2006. The college can be reached by a street opposite T.B.Hospital near Ayanavaram bus depot.

Our Mandate

Government Polytechnic College, Purasawalkam, Chennai is to offer three year Diploma Courses as approved by State Government and AICTE to both Boys and Girls at Post Secondary School level and also admitting Post Higher Secondary School candidates in the Second year through lateral entry scheme. The Curricula, Syllabi and Evaluation systems are to be followed as prescribed by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu.

Apart from the Hi-tech courses it is offering, it aims to provide continuous learning process through Non-Formal Education to suit the need of the students of this Institution and the community around and to step up the institution as the Center of Excellence.”
